ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
AQUÍ ESTAMOS (translation: Here We Are)
AQUÍ ESTAMOS is a grassroots, artist-led group exhibition showcasing seven emerging Ecuadorian women and queer artists based in London.
Bringing together painting, photography, textiles, animation, and poetry, the exhibition explores identity, migration, memory, and belonging. Each artist presents a distinct perspective shaped by personal and collective experience, reflecting the complexities of diaspora, culture, and lived reality. The exhibition highlights voices shaped by lived experience, community, and creative resilience. For London audiences, it offers a rare opportunity to encounter contemporary Latin American art from underrepresented perspectives.Presented during Pride Month, and at a time when migrant and queer communities continue to face reduced visibility, AQUÍ ESTAMOS stands as a celebration of presence, cultural contribution, and collective expression.
Developed in collaboration with the Embassy of Ecuador in the United Kingdom (host and co-organiser), the project centres artists from working-class, migrant, and diasporic backgrounds. As a non-profit, community-led initiative, it is grounded in collaboration and visibility, a collective statement of being, making, and existing together:
